Blur a whole photo or selected areas
Use Blur Image to soften a picture into a backdrop or blur details in a screenshot. Choose the whole image or draw rectangles around the areas you want to change.
Both modes use Gaussian blur, which smooths fine detail and edges.
Whole image
- Where it applies
- Across the entire picture.
- When to use it
- Soften a photo to create a background for text or a slide.
Selected areas
- Where it applies
- Inside the rectangles you draw.
- When to use it
- Soften a face, a sign or a section of a screenshot while keeping the surrounding scene sharp.
| Mode | Where it applies | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Whole image | Across the entire picture. | Soften a photo to create a background for text or a slide. |
| Selected areas | Inside the rectangles you draw. | Soften a face, a sign or a section of a screenshot while keeping the surrounding scene sharp. |
Switching modes keeps your rectangles. All selected areas share one strength, and overlapping areas receive the same blur.

Choose the area before increasing the strength
To blur text in an image, draw a box around the complete line, including its edges. Check the downloaded result before sharing. Use Image Cropper when removing the section would work better.
Start at strength 30 and compare with the original. Use Image Resizer first if your source exceeds the dimensions or pixel limit.
For a semi-transparent overlay, use Fade Image to adjust the opacity of the whole picture and save it as PNG.
