Rotate Images by 90°, 180° or 270°

Use Image Rotator to fix a sideways or upside-down picture. Each turn button moves the image by 90°. The available orientations are 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°; there is no angle input or fine-adjustment slider.

Choose the right operation

Rotation and mirroring are different. Check text and logos after a flip. With both operations active, the flip applies along the original image axes before rotation.

Rotate one image

1. Select one browser-readable image up to 20 MB.
2. Use the turn or flip buttons and inspect the preview. Reset clears the transformations.
3. Choose PNG, JPG or WebP. PNG and WebP can keep existing transparency; JPG fills it with white.
4. Submit and download the result. Output must fit within 8192 px per side.

Selecting the image immediately starts uploading the original to the server. The preview shows the local transformation; exporting processes the already uploaded image. A 90° or 270° turn swaps width and height. Animated sources produce a static first-frame image.

90° Rotations

Clockwise (Right)

• Portrait → Landscape (right side up)
• Common for phone photos
• Quick fix for sideways images

Counter-clockwise (Left)

• Portrait → Landscape (left side up)
• Alternative orientation
• Depends on original position

Multiple 90° Turns

180° Rotation

When to Use

Flip for:

• Upside-down photos
• Scanned documents
• Wrong way captures

Process

Simple 180° turn:

• Top becomes bottom
• Left becomes right
• Complete inversion

Check quality after export

Export re-encodes the picture and omits original metadata. JPG and WebP use lossy quality presets, including Highest quality. A right-angle turn therefore does not promise a lossless JPEG file. Keep the original and check fine text, colors and orientation.

Custom angles and several images

For a tilted horizon, use a separate editor with precise angle adjustment; see Straightening tilted photos. Perspective correction also needs a suitable editor. This page processes one image per task. Repeat the workflow for additional images, or use dedicated batch software.

Canvas Handling

A rotation that is not a multiple of 90° may need cropping or an expanded canvas in another editor. The two approaches below describe that editor’s workflow. They are not canvas controls in ImgConvert’s rotator.

Crop After Rotation

Non-90° rotations create corners:

• White/transparent corners appear
• Crop to remove them
• Lose some image area

Expand Canvas

Alternative approach:

• Keep full image
• Transparent corners
• Useful for design
